The conflict of interest, stated plainly
Trendora is a retailer, not a magazine. When a buying guide on this site recommends a jacket, that jacket is one we bought, stock, and profit from selling. We are not a neutral party and we will not pretend to be one.
What we can promise is narrower and, we think, more useful: within our catalogue, we will tell you which item is right for your situation even when it is the cheaper one, and we will tell you when nothing we sell is right for you. A guide that steers every reader toward the highest-margin product is worthless to the reader and, in the end, to us.
Who writes and who reviews
Every buying guide, category introduction and comparison table on this site is written by a member of the Trendora team who has handled the products in question. The same people select the stock and answer support email, which means they hear directly when a recommendation turns out to be wrong.
No article is published without a second person reading it. The reviewer’s job is specifically to ask “is this claim checkable, and did we check it?” Questions about authorship of any specific page can be sent to tendora@gmail.com and we will tell you who wrote it and who reviewed it.
How we source facts
Claims on this site come from one of three places, and we distinguish between them:
- Our own measurement. Flat garment measurements, wash-test results and fabric weights we have taken ourselves. These are the figures we trust most.
- Manufacturer specification. Fill power, membrane rating, composition. We reproduce these as supplied and attribute them to the manufacturer. We do not independently verify a temperature rating.
- Customer feedback. Aggregated from support tickets and returns data — for example, that a particular kurti runs small. We say when a claim comes from this source.
Where we do not know, we say we do not know. We do not fill a specification table with confident-sounding numbers to make it look complete.
How products are ranked
Ordering within a collection page is by price, ascending, unless the page states another basis. It is never by margin, never by how much stock we need to clear, and never sold to a brand.
Collection pages such as Best Men’s Winter Jackets are curated: a human decides what belongs on them. A collection is only published when it holds at least three in-stock products and carries an introduction written specifically for it. A collection that cannot meet that bar is not published as a thin page with a search-engine-friendly title — it simply does not exist until it earns the right to.
Advertising and its limits
Some pages on this site display advertising served by Google AdSense. The following rules are enforced in the codebase, not merely promised here:
- Ads never appear on pages without substantial content of our own. The cart, checkout, order confirmation, search results and every policy page — including this one — are structurally incapable of loading the ad script.
- No advertiser sees our content before publication, and none has ever asked us to change a recommendation, add a product, or remove a criticism.
- Advertising revenue is not attributed to individual guides. Nobody writing a buying guide knows, or can find out, what that guide earns in ad revenue.
- We do not mark advertising as editorial. Ads are visually distinct and served in clearly delineated slots. If you ever see an ad on this site that could be mistaken for our own recommendation, tell us and we will remove the placement.
Our Cookie Policy explains what data advertising cookies collect and how to opt out of personalised ads.
Our position on generated content
We use software to help with drafting, spell-checking and formatting, in the same way we use a spreadsheet to help with pricing. We do not publish machine-generated text that no human has read, verified and taken responsibility for.
Concretely: no page on this site was published without a named person confirming that its factual claims are true. If a claim on this site is wrong, a person got it wrong, and that person will correct it.
Corrections and updates
We make mistakes. When we find one, or when you tell us about one, here is what happens:
- Factual errors are corrected the same working day we accept that the claim is wrong.
- Substantive corrections are disclosed on the page. If we change a recommendation, a price comparison, or a specification, we say what changed rather than quietly editing it. The “last reviewed” date at the top of every policy page moves only when a human actually reviews the text.
- Product data errors trigger a catalogue check. If one specification was wrong, the others from the same source are re-checked.
Report anything you think is inaccurate to tendora@gmail.com, or through the Contact page. You do not need to be a customer, and we do not require you to explain why you are asking.
Disclosure: sample catalogue
This installation of Trendora currently runs on sample catalogue data. Product ratings and review counts shown across the site are illustrative and are not derived from real customer reviews. Applying the standards above to ourselves: because those reviews are not real, we do not emit aggregateRating structured data to search engines, and we label the ratings as sample data wherever they are displayed.
Something here unclear or out of date? Tell us — we correct policy pages on the same working day.
